In November, Houston Baptist University earned the designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs庐, STEM JobsSM, and Military Spouse. HBU听announced today that it has been听named听a Silver-level award recipient in the category of Small Private Schools for 2017.听First published in 2009, Military Friendly庐 Schools is the most comprehensive, powerful resource for veterans today. Each year, the list of Military Friendly庐 Schools is provided to service members and their families, helping them select the best college, university, or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly庐 School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media鈥檚 proprietary survey. More than 1,700 schools participated in the 2017 survey; 1,273 were awarded with the designation. Ratings methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Victory Media with input from the Military Friendly庐 Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution鈥檚 survey scores with the assessment of the institution鈥檚 ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
New this year, Military Friendly庐 Awards showcase the most powerful and effective programs that were designated as 鈥淢ilitary Friendly庐鈥� in November. Of those designated, 154 employers and 541 schools have been recognized for excellence in different categories, highlighting not only 鈥淎re you Military Friendly庐?鈥� but 鈥淗ow Military Friendly庐 are you?鈥� HBU was named a Silver-level award winner.
